regis: ctv is a specialist national learning and resources provider in the care sector and has a network of qualified and experienced trainers across the country dedicated to delivering quality short courses. Training is available "in house" or at a venue of your choice. Introduction courses are one day - with six hours taught time including a written test, evaluation and regis certification. All regis: ctv trainers are CRB checked. We are also able to meet individual needs by "tailor making" courses to suit. All courses are for 10 people except courses marked * where the maximum is 8. In certain cases additional learners can be accommodated at a cost of £25.00 plus VAT per learner. Update courses are also available, please contact us for details.

Train the Trainer Skills for Care Common Induction Standards

Induction training is now compulsory across the whole of the social care sector and we can provide a one day course for a "competent person" to deliver this to staff.

This can be delivered at our Head Office. or alternatively in the workplace, and lasts approximately 4 hours.

COST: £250.00 + VAT per person if delivered in the workplace, £200.00 + VAT per person if delivered at regis:ctv head office. Bulk groups will attract a discount, please contact us for more information.

All six common induction standards are covered, using our Skills for Care Induction Standards training pack.

Other topics which will be covered include:

• Implications of new standards
• Some subtle changes and additions
• Closer links to the NVQ programme
• Importance of "signing off"
• Emphasis on "competent staff"


The session will cover the use of the pack and the video/DVD and CD rom demonstrating the need for required evidence and ongoing assessment declarations

Skills for Care Common Induction Standards Training

Three day (underpinning knowledge) or Five Day (underpinning knowledge and practical) courses available for Skills for Care Common Induction Standards, covering all 6 standards, this course is for new staff.

COST: £325 + VAT per day.

Introduction to Adult Protection

The aim of the training is to raise awareness of abuse and deals with recognising different forms and some of the signs and symptoms to look for. It also recognises that the subject itself could cause distress to those attending the training.

• Responding to abuse
• Roles and responsibilities

Introduction to Customer Care

Quality customer care is an essential element of every successful care home and all staff need encouragement to have a positive attitude towards customer service. If staff are shown what is expected of them, they can then understand more fully the standards of care and manner required. Ideal for new staff and also as refresher training.

Introduction to Communication

Outcomes and Objectives for this course are as follows:

• Understand the basic forms of verbal/non verbal communication and how to use these in the work setting
• Understand the importance of how to listen effectively (including “active listening” and paying attention to non verbal and verbal communication)
• Understand how to use touch to promote communication
• Understand when touch is not appropriate
• Understand the importance of tone of voice
• Understand the need for personal space
• Recognise difficulties for those whose first language is not English
• Understand the importance of eye-contact

Introduction to Emergency First Aid

Learners will be able to:

• Understand basic first aid techniques
• Understand own limitations and reasons for first aid regulations
• Understand how to prioritise care using HSE guidelines
• Know how to summon professional help
• Demonstrate cardio-pulmonary resuscitation/basic life support
• Demonstrate correct recovery position
• Demonstrate knowledge of Health and Safety at Work Act

Introduction to Food Hygiene & Safety in the workplace

Learners will be able to:

• Demonstrate an understanding of personal hygiene in relation to food hygiene
• Understand the "danger zone" in relation to temperature of food
• Demonstrate an awareness of health and safety measures required in relation to food storage
• Demonstrate knowledge of employers and employees responsibilities
• Demonstrate correct hand washing procedures
• Identify ways of reducing the risk of cross contamination

This course meets the outcomes and objectives for the Knowledge set for Medication. Learners will be able to:

• Understand the importance of legislation relating to medication
• Understand the importance of record keeping relating to medication
• Understand the most common medication
• Understand the importance of medical conditions and treatments
• Understand the importance of prescription, storage and administration of medication

Introduction to Health and Safety

Learners will be able to:

• Demonstrate awareness of the five steps to Risk Assessment
• Complete accident/incident report
• Understand the importance of inspections
• Demonstrate understanding and knowledge of the need for management of health and safety in the workplace
• Demonstrate understanding of what is meant by RIDDOR and how it needs to be implemented
• Explain and identify hazardous substances in the care environment for COSHH requlations.

Introduction to Moving and Handling - People*

Learners will be able to:

• Demonstrate knowledge in relation to current HSE practice
• Demonstrate understanding of need for robust risk assessment
• Understand the function of the spinal cord
• Demonstrate safe practice in relation to moving and handling
• Demonstrate knowledge of different equipment
• Understand plan of care in relation to moving and handling

This course is for a maximum of 8 people. This is a HSE recommendation.

Introduction to Moving and Handling - Loads

The aims and objectives of this course are to give staff information and training in Moving and Handling

At the end of the course the learner will be able to understand:

• What is manual handling, or moving and handling?
• Legislation
• Employers' and employees' responsibilities
• Risk assessment
• Structure and function of the spine.
• The importance of good posture and movement
• Safer moving and handling techniques
• Moving and handling tasks
• Using equipment where appropriate
